As we wrap up National School Lunch Week, Bellwood School District 88 is proud to announce that we’ve been recognized with the Small and/or Rural School Food Authority Lunch Trailblazer Award.
This national honor celebrates districts that are leading the way in creating healthier, more flavorful school meals.
How We’re Trailblazing in D88
Our Food Services team has trained staff to:

Use natural flavor enhancers like garlic, onion, lemon juice, and herbs to reduce sodium

Choose fresh or frozen proteins and vegetables with no added salt

Include students in yearly taste tests and focus groups to improve menu options
